Crafting a Winning Pitch: How I’m Tailoring My Approach to Businesses

Struggling to make your pitch stand out? I built a custom Python scraper to gather agency insights, automate data collection, and craft targeted messages that show—not just tell—the value of no-code solutions.

Crafting a Winning Pitch: How I’m Tailoring My Approach to Businesses

Today, I found myself grappling with a challenge that many of us face when trying to pitch services to potential clients of my agency n0c0de.com: how to make my pitch not just compelling, but deeply relatable and actionable for the businesses I want to work with. I realized that my approach needed to strike a balance between two key aspects. First, I wanted to create projects that resonate with the specific leads I’m targeting. Second, I needed to provide tangible evidence of how my services could add value to their field.

Having completed around 10 projects over the past 12 months, I’ve come to understand the importance of familiarity in building trust and opportunity. When businesses can see how my work aligns with their needs and industry, it becomes easier for them to connect the dots and envision how my services could benefit them. This relatability, I believe, is crucial for planting the seed that leads to meaningful conversations and collaborations.

But here’s the catch: how do I effectively demonstrate this value? I’ve been toying with two ideas. One is to build my own applications and showcase them to potential clients. The other is to present my ideas in a more structured and accountable way, making it easier for prospects to see the potential impact. This is where my experimentation began.

Step 1: Gathering Data to Understand the Market

To start, I turned to the Bubble agencies page, a hub of information about agencies using the Bubble platform. Using a custom scraper I built, I extracted data from these agency profiles. This approach offered three key benefits:

  1. Market Insight: It gave me a clear picture of the types of agencies operating in the market.
  2. Copy Inspiration: It provided examples of how different agencies present their businesses, which I could use to refine my own messaging.
  3. Portfolio Building: It helped me understand how similar agencies are using Bubble to pitch their services and grow their businesses.

This data collection wasn’t just about gathering information—it was about creating a foundation for targeted outreach. By automating the process, I ensured it was repeatable and scalable, saving me from the inefficiencies of manual work.

Step 2: Automating the Process for Efficiency

The scraper (./diary/writing/bubble-agencies/puppeteer_browse_bubble_agencies.js) I built visits each agency’s page, checks if they have projects listed, extracts the relevant details, and dumps the data into my collection system. From there, a Python-based parser (./diary/writing/bubble-agencies/extract-all-data-types.py) takes over, organizing the data into a structured database tailored for further analysis.

This combination of scraping and parsing has given me a powerful toolset. Not only do I now have a robust database of agency projects, but I also have the ability to create proof-of-concept models for potential clients. This allows me to craft highly targeted messages that demonstrate how no-code solutions, automation, and analytics can drive growth for their businesses.

The Bigger Picture: Building Trust Through Evidence

By showing businesses examples of similar companies in their field leveraging these tools successfully, I’m able to provide concrete evidence of the utility of my services. This approach not only makes my pitch more relatable but also positions me as a knowledgeable and resourceful partner who understands their industry.

In essence, this experiment has been about more than just data collection—it’s about creating a system that allows me to speak the language of my prospects, backed by actionable insights and real-world examples. As I continue to refine this process, I’m excited about the potential to build stronger connections and deliver even more value to the agencies I hope to work with.

So, if you’re in a similar position, trying to figure out how to make your pitch stand out, consider this: sometimes, the key lies in showing, not just telling. By providing evidence, automating the groundwork, and tailoring your message, you can create a pitch that’s not just persuasive, but impossible to ignore.
